£110.00

Make your own sea glass or sea pottery necklace set in sterling silver. Suitable for complete beginners or those who have done one of my other beginner level classes, this short course in my Edinburgh workshop will show you all the steps to make your own beautiful, unique sea glass or sea pottery necklace.

Bring along your own sea glass or pottery (I will check and let you know if it's suitable to use) or choose a piece from my collection. I will provide more information on what might be suitable in the joining instructions after you book the class. Please see the images I have included to see what is achievable in the class.

During the class I will cover:

- selecting an appropriate piece of seaglass or pottery for your necklace
- how to select bezel wire which is the correct depth for your seaglass / pottery.
- making a bezel setting for your sea glass / pottery
- setting the sea glass / pottery into the bezel
- filing and sanding for a beautiful finish
- annealing
- adding texture
- adding a jump ring to your pendant
- polishing

The price includes the sterling silver required to make the silver necklace, a 16 or 18 inch sterling silver trace chain, plus sea glass / pottery should you require it.

Participants must be 16 or over and under 18 accompanied by an adult. Each workshop has a maximum of 4 people, you can book as an individual or a group. You will leave the class with your own handmade sterling silver sea glass or pottery necklace.

You may wish to bring an apron to wear, although it is not essential. If you wear glasses for reading, remember to bring them, the class includes lots of close up work.

Classes which run over lunchtime include a half hour break for lunch, so please bring a packed lunch. The later class does not run over lunchtime, but as with the early class time, I will provide a steady stream of tea or coffee throughout the class and some yummy homemade cake at the end whilst we wait for your finished jewellery to come out of the polisher.

Who is your tutor

I have been working full time as a jeweller since 2009 and enjoy teaching as a way to support my practice. In my previous career, I worked in a role conducting training courses and I love the ability to combine both skill sets. I keep my classes small at a maximum of 4 participants so I have time to support you individually. I like my classes to be a fun, informative and creative environment, I hope you enjoy your workshop!
