Make Your Own Gemstone Silver or 14ct Gold Filled Stacking Rings - morning or afternoon workshop
Join me in this stacking ring making class where you will learn to make a set of three different stacking rings including one with a bezel set gemstone.
This Edinburgh based jewellery experience is aimed at complete beginners who have never made any jewellery before. Participants must be 15 or over and under 18s accompanied by an adult who is also doing the workshop. Each workshop has a maximum of 5 people, you can book as an individual or a group. You will leave the class with 3 different skinny stacking rings, one with a bezel set gemstone in a choice of sterling silver or gold filled.
During the class I will cover:
- how to size your fingers
- shaping and forming the ring
- sawing to create the perfect join
- soldering
- filing and sanding for a beautiful finish
- adding texture
- polishing
- stone setting using a pre-made silver or gold-filled bezel setting
The price includes the sterling silver required to make 3 sterling silver rings plus one 5mm silver bezel setting and one 5mm gemstone. If you wish to make gold filled rings, there is a additional charge of £10 per stacking ring and £15 for the gemstone ring, payable at the time of booking, see the drop down options above. If you want one, two or three gold filled rings ensure you also add that to check out along with your class booking. I cannot guarantee I will have gold filled ready in the class for anyone who hasn’t selected it at checkout. Gold filled wire has a base metal core surrounded in a thick layer of 14ct gold, giving you gold to wear but for a more reasonable price. It’s a much thicker layer of gold than gold plating, making it more durable and your creations should remain looking good for years to come.
I will have a selection of stones for you to select from. These will include amethyst, blue topaz, citrine and moonstone (as photographed). I can also take requests for other semi-precious stones in advance of the class if requested two weeks prior to the date of the class and there will be a charge based on the value of the stone.
You may wish to bring an apron to wear, although it’s not essential. We will have a tea and coffee break and some yummy homemade cake.

Who is your tutor
I have been working full time as a jeweller since 2009 and enjoy teaching as a way to support my practice. In my previous career, I worked in a role conducting training courses and I love the ability to combine both skill sets. I keep my classes small at a maximum of 4 participants so I have time to support you individually. I like my classes to be a fun, informative and creative environment, I hope you enjoy your workshop!
